Taraba Farmers receive farm Inputs from Federal Government.

The Federal government has distributed fertilizes, seedlings and herbicides to over 22,000 farmers located in Taraba State, north east Nigeria, Voice of Nigeria reports.

While presenting the items to the Taraba state Governor the Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency NEMA, Mr Mustapha Maihaja, said the gesture is the effort of the Nigerian government to support the victims of the 2018 floods and victims of communal crisis in the State.

He stressed that it is also part of the Nigerian government strategy to ensure food sufficiency and alleviate the suffering of farmers who source of livelihood have been destroyed by the communal crisis.

“Over twenty 22,000Taraba farmers will benefit from over 150,000 bags of fertilizer seedlings and herbicides to further boost their production and ensure food security,” Maihaja said.

Strengthening farmers
The Governor of Taraba State Mr. Darius Ishaku Dickson thanked the Nigerian government for the gesture noting that items will boost the agriculture activities in the State.

He also noted that the State government had intervened to the plight of the displaced farmers, stating that the gesture of Nigerian government will strengthen the farmers as they are gradually returning to the communities.

The Governor called on the beneficiary not to sell the items but make use of it in their farms.
