The Nigerian government has inaugurated a mini milk collection center located in Tassa Village in Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area of Kano state.The Voice of Nigeria reports. According to the Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Sabo Nanono, said that the center would alleviate the plight of milk sellers and improve their business. The Nigeria government says it has planned to introduce mechanised farming to boost agriculture production. Voic of Nigeria reports. The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Sabo Nanono spoke on the policy at a meeting with farmers and other stakeholders which held at the government house, Kano. The Enugu State Government has urged its residents to embrace rice farming, and has promised to make available farmland for cultivation. The Voice of Nigeria reports. A quarterly report released by the United Nations stated that about 41 countries continue to be in need of external assistance for food, with conflicts acting as the primary cause of high levels of food insecurity and adverse weather conditions. The List consists of 31 African Countries that have remained on the list over the last six months , according to the Crop Prospects and Food Situation report issued by the Food and Agriculture Organization. The Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria (CRIN), Ibadan has said its 10-year cocoa breeding efforts led to the recent release of eight improved hybrid varieties (CRIN Tc1-CRIN Tc8). That was according to Dr. Festus Olasupo, a Plant Breeder at CRIN. The Voice of Nigeria reports. He said that the hybrid varieties bear fruits within two years and have high yield potentials ranging from 1,340 to 2,120kg per hectare. He  also said that the new varieties were tolerant to phytophthora pod rot black pod disease and other insect infestations which could make their input requirements to be very low when compared with the old varieties.
