Value Drivers Investment Limited in partnership with Total Exploration and Production Nigeria Limited has concluded a three-week training in Lagos, tagged: ‘Total Agriculture Entrepreneur Skills Acquisition Training Program,’ aimed at empowering youths and boosting agribusiness in the country.
The training was part of Total’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, focused on building the knowledge of the participants on agriculture as a business, to assist them to set up agroindustry in the areas of cassava, vegetables and snail production on graduation.
The training involved classroom and fieldwork in a reputable farm, facilitated by faculty drawn from Lagos Business School, Dominican Centre and other experts in the agribusiness value chain.

The workshop was organized by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in collaboration with the National Horticultural Research Institute (NIHORT).
Chairman, NIHORT Governing Board, Retired Maj. Gen. Garba Mohammed, Speaking at the opening ceremony of the workshop, said many Nigerians had enjoyed dividends of democracy through several capacity building programmes implemented by the Federal Government.

Edo State Government said it has allocated about 1,000 hectares (ha) for cassava cultivation, as part of its agriprenuer programme targeted at galvanising women farmers towards realising its food security target.
In a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Godwin Okonofua, said the land is dedicated for cassava Cultivation under the women empowerment initiative. He noted that Edo State sourced funds from the Central Bank of Nigeria under the auspices of the Commercial Agricultural Credit Scheme towards implementing the project.
