Dr. Mohammed Umar, the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in Nigeria has inaugurated Project Delivery Team (PDT) for the commercialisation of vaccine production facility of the National Veterinary Research Institute Vom (NVRI). Voice of Nigeria reports.
Dr. Umar, who inaugurated the team in Abuja, said effort by the team to commercialise vaccine is a welcomed development.
He said the mandate of the team was to draw up a transactional proposal, consider the legal implication of the transaction and develop terms of reference for a transaction advisor among others.
He commended the current management of the institute for reinvigorating the commercialisation process of the vaccine production facility by incorporating a company called Vom Biological Products Ltd.
Umar commended the former Minister, Audu Ogbe, who got the support of Propcom Mai-Karfi, a DFID funded NGO to fund feasibility study for the commercialisation of the vaccine production facility.
He said the project was in line with the Livestock Transformation Agenda and economic diversification of the Nigerian government.
He urged the team to be transparent in the execution of its mandate while following due process and timely delivery.
Mr. Busari Olusa, the Head of Urban Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Agency, who spoke on behalf of other team members, said the PDT members would work to ensure that the project was successfully delivered.
